The Sinner's Chains

You claim me a Saint

Yet I still wear the sinner’s chains

How I yearn for the day my sin will truly be taken away

My body is my enemy craving to sin

When my soul craves to know you better

But the two cannot cohabitate

You claim me a Saint

Yet I still wear the sinner’s chains

How beautiful the day will be when I cease to sin against you

Your glory redeems me Lord

The miracles you work in my life give me purpose

Your redemption humbles and uplifts me

My sin wants to lie in darkness

Seeping falsehood and wickedness into my life

You claim me a Saint

Yet I still wear the sinner's chains

Your truth declares me righteous

The wickedness has no place to hide

My sin has no place to hide

I have no place to hide

How can one hide before the King of Kings?

Who is undeserving of His judgement?

Yet His grace goes before His wrath

Because He claims me a Saint

His grace breaks the chains ...

And I will not put them on again
